Subject: My reasons for wanting to join The Family International

Dear Friends,

My name is Darrick Evenson. I'm 49 years old. I'm a white male. I'm a former Mormon (went on a mission for that Church) and a former Baha'i. I left the Mormon Church because of the following reasons:

*The hypocrisy I saw among Mormons
*The failure of Mormon leaders to prophesy or have any "spirit of discernment"
*Overwhelming evidence that The Book of Mormon is a produce of the early 19th century, and not a history of Jews in Ancient America.

I later became a Baha'i, a follower of Baha'u'llah. I left that organization because, while the Guardian of the Faith (Shoghi Effendi--died in 1957) forbid Baha'is from having abortions, the current leaders of the Faith allow abortions-on-demand. Also, the Faith was more of a "world peace/race unity" movement than an actual religion. They also de-emphasized Jesus and taught He was never literally raised from the dead.

About 9 or 10 years ago I first came across the Family on the Internet. I came across an ex-Family website, that reprinted many of the "MO Letters" and other publications. I spent a lot of time going over these old reprints, and I found myself agreeing with what the MO Letters and cartoons said. I contacted the Family then, and was given the number of the Seattle House, and called. But, at that time, I got a job working as a 911 Operator with the Seattle P.D., so I dropped looking into it further.

I contacted the Family again about 6 months ago, and was sent some information. In the last few months I've been thinking about becoming a Missionary Member of the Family. I believe that David Berg (Moses David) was God's end-times Messenger. I simply agree with what he had to say.

I am 49. I do not smoke or drink (never have). I have never tried illegal drugs. I am very allergic to nicotine, perfume, and Lysol products. I have worked as a courier, a security patrolman, a 911 Operator, and a Driving Instructor in Washington State and California. I have training in Fiber Optics, but I never worked in that field. I do not read or play music. I am intellectual, and very easygoing.

I am 100% heterosexual, but I have no had sex with another person. As a Mormon I was told that all sex, in any form, outside of marriage was evil (although all the Mormon males I knew violated this!). I have never been financially stable enough to attract a woman I wanted to marry (i.e. I loved them but they did not love me or they loved me but I did not love them). I know about the "6 month rule" for new members of the Family, and also the "age rule" regarding sex. I have no problem with either. I am open to pre-marital relations with a woman based upon the Law of Love, but I really hope to find a good woman to marry and hopefully have at least one child together.

Ideally I would like to go to Russia or Ukraine to teach English, but I'll go wherever the Lord wants me to go. I do not yet speak other languages, but I want to learn. My personal demeanor and hygiene are both excellent. Unfortunately, I cannot be around anyone who smokes or wears too much perfume. I have no medical conditions except for my allergies.

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I have agreed with everything I have read about The Family thus far, with the doctrine and practice. I'm not sure that performing music is "my way" of sharing the Gospel, but I'd be willing to try it. I would like to become a Teacher of English to those overseas. My passport is good for the next two years.

Currently, I'm living with my father, who is 82. He is in the hospital and may be going into a nursing home (not sure yet). Before I can go anywhere I must take care of his situation; whether that means a nursing home, or he may recover fully in the next few weeks or several months and be able to live on his own again.

I have never been arrested. You can confirm this by contacting my brother Chief Mark Evenson of the Brentwood, California, Police Department (925) 634-6911 (ask for Chief Evenson).

I currently live in Milwaukie, Oregon. I am currently unemployed, but may have a job offer in Longview, Washingon as a driving instructor. I'd rather spent my life sharing the Gospel with others overseas. You can contact me via e-mail on my cell-phone: 253-359-4262.

Thank you.
